John L. Edwards Elementary School and Storytown, USA

Posted on Fri,Aug 18, 2023Thu,Nov 2, 2023 by Trixie Starr

Hudson –

Writing this blog is fun, it gets me out of the house. Sometimes with a purpose, sometimes to eat ice cream and write it off as “research” for a tax deduction.

This past week, I visited two totally random places, Storytown two hours upstate in Lake George, and the John L. Edwards Elementary School right across the street, at 360 State Street.

Both places were amazing for photos (at least I think so).

At Storytown, there’s the giant shoe from the Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe. At JL Edwards, there’s photos from Hudson’s nuclear fallout shelter. The John L Edwards school tour was extensive; we visited almost every room. There’s still a lot of stuff there – like five pianos in the cafeteria. If this post has piqued your interest, there’s another tour on Thursday, Aug. 24th at 10am.

Also, there were group showers in the John L Edwards locker rooms? An elementary school?
How sweaty did seven-year-old kids get playing dodgeball in 1963?
Sidenote: Could you imagine kids playing dodgeball today? Yeah, no.

No further comments.

Get out of the house, Hudson!

I say that as I’ve spent hours cropping, resizing, and uploading images, and it’s a beautiful day outside.

I hope you enjoy the pictures!

-Trix
