The Mac-Haydn Theatre is thrilled to announce the opening of Jesus Christ Superstar, running this season for the first time since 2001. The iconic rock opera will launch on the Mac-Haydn stage under the direction of Producing Artistic Director John Saunders, marking his first directorial project of the 2025 season.

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s legendary musical promises a bold, electrifying experience brought
to life with fresh vision and dynamic new staging. Joining Saunders is Kaitlyn Frank as choreographer,
bringing her signature energy and innovation to this beloved classic. Alex Franklin leads the five-piece
rock band as music director for the first time this season.
Jared Goodwin returns to play Jesus, after playing Tony in West Side Story and Roger in Rent last season. Jacob Atkins takes on the role of Judas with Cydney Gleckner as Mary Magdalene. Tristan Caldwell joins the cast again this season as Pontius Pilate.

“This show has been on our radar for years,” said Saunders. “It’s the perfect time to revisit it with an
extraordinary creative team and a company ready to push its boundaries. Audiences can expect a thrilling and deeply moving production.”
Jesus Christ Superstar will run from July 24–August 3 at the Mac-Haydn Theatre in Chatham, NY. Don’t
miss this chance to see one of musical theatre’s most groundbreaking works reimagined on the Mac-Haydn stage for the first time in more than two decades.
