(This only sounds like it is from The Onion, but it’s mostly true.)
Last weekend, Hudson-based homosexuals and avowed sodomites continued their author discussion and book-signing against the backdrop of the monthly evangelical preachings across the street. The event with author Rick Castro and his new Los Angeles street hustler photo novel, RICK CASTRO S/M BLVD continued as planned.
The amplified preaching was so loud that some at the Dream Brothers/Kasuri event were unable to focus on the gay erotica in front of them.
The Dream Brothers/Kasuri event, held at the recently reopened Kasuri store on 1 Warren Street, hosted photographer and author Rick Castro. The presentation included a slide show of his new collection of erotic photographs bound in his book, RICK CASTRO S/M BLVD. Throughout the eighties and nineties, Rick Castro photographed and catalogued street hustlers in Los Angeles area. The stories and photos define a specific place and time in gay culture. The author sometimes had intimate relations with his models, which he outlined in the discussion.
Participants at the event were surrounded by Japanese high fashion, a “Back Room” wallpapered with a collage of gay porn magazines, and audible salvation and end-of-times warnings. The dichotomy of the evening was not lost on the dozen or so book-signing attendees.
“This is very symbolic of how I grew up,” expressed one self-proclaimed homosexual in the room. Many nodded in agreement and the exclamation, “Hello!” with finger snaps was heard coming from the back row. Various homosexuals in the room considered doing an ACT UP-style “Kiss In” (a form of theatrical protest where homosexuals embrace and display affection) in front of the evangelicals. The idea was quickly dismissed when one middle-aged homosexual sighed and said he was “too exhausted to deal with this situation”.
After the book signing, Hudson-based homosexuals tried to to have a conversation outside of Kasuri while smoking cigarettes. One predominant sodomite expressed his displeasure, “Usually, after an event like this, we can talk outside, but that was not possible.” Normal Hudson-homosexual conversations include topics such as Broadway show tune lyrics, gay sex, and real estate.
After vociferous complaints from neighbors,
Edie Beale, Grey Gardens
the Board of Health took legal action against the reclusive pair.
Why, it’s the most disgusting, atrocious thing ever to happen in America!
Hudson-based homosexuals used this Broadway show tune lyric to underline the dire situation
“We were TRYING to talk about the early to late 80s Los Angeles hustler, punk, and bar scene, and there they are, across the street, preaching at the top of their lungs!” said one devout homosexual as he grasped a pearl necklace that did not exist, “Really?!“
