Living in Hudson, Katz’s Delicatessen is too far of a schlep for lunch. But, don’t worry. You can get a hot pastrami sandwich now at the Cannonball Factory.
I went to Lev and Ida’s Grand Opening Day this week and ate The Hudson Wail – a spicy tuna salad sandwich, pickled diakon radish, napa cabbage, cucumbers, crispy fried shallots, sriracha and sesame seeds on a milk bun – $14. It was very tasty, with a little kick to it. The bun was soft and delicious, and there’s a couple of crunchy pickle slices. There was a mix of different textures and flavors.
It is their first week – have a little patience – they may need a little more time to iron out the wrinkles in their schmata.

Lev and Ida’s share the first floor with Yummy Kitchen, serving asian fusion food. There are bathrooms and more than enough seating. The Cannonball Factory is fast becoming Hudson’s new luncheon food court. With both eateries, there’s a variety of food, including carnivorous, vegetarian, vegan, dairy and gluten-free options. Open from 11-3pm, Tuesday-Saturday(ish), the Cannonball Factory is the perfect mid-City of Hudson meeting place for lunch. Savory Bites is half a block away, so if your group really cannot decide, you can split up then meet back at the pocket park across from Hudson Hall.

Pretty, pretty, pretty good!
A handful of chips in the box would be nice, but who am I to say?

If you are on facebook, you cannot read a post in a local Hudson community group without people complaining about how those “citiots” keep trying to make upstate like “The City” – blah, blah, blah. (G-d forbid we even suggest to have a vote for a County Executive. A shanda!)
But, you know what? Now Hudson has hot pastrami sandwiches with mustard. And a decent bagel place.
Maybe a little bit of downstate is not a bad thing.
Would it kill you to try it?
