Opening Reception: Narcissus, a solo exhibit by Jeffrey Heiman
The Project presents a curated selection of new paintings by Jeffrey Heiman.
Heiman traces the lingering presence of past relationships across spaces. Fragmented figures drift through interiors where time folds in on itself. Heiman’s paintings blur the line between the real and the remembered. The exhibition takes its title from a central work depicting a boy spitting into his reflection, a contemporary reimagining of the myth of Narcissus. The work draws on personal memory and historical references to explore intimacy, absence, and the surreal within space.
He has been “Artist in Residence” at the Vermont Studio Center (Johnson, VT), the Byrdcliffe Artist Colony (Woodstock, NY), and recently earned his MFA in Painting from Bard College and currently lives and works in the Hudson Valley. This is his first solo exhibit after Bard College, and second exhibit with the Project.
