DAR Speaker Series: Celebrating General Lafayette and his 1824-25 Farewell Tour

About the 25-state Lafayette Trail

New York State DAR Regent Patrice Powley Birner talks about General Lafayette’s 1824-25 tour of all 25 states, in which he was lauded as hero and uniter of the fractious young country. The Lafayette Trail, an initiative sponsored by The Lafayette Trail Inc. and the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, is erecting 175 historic markers in preparation for the 2024-2025 bicentennial celebration of the general’s visit, with ten to be located in New York State. Among Lafayette’s places visited was the courthouse on Allen Street in Hudson. This is a special Flag Day Speaker Series program.
