Spencertown, New York–Spencertown Academy Arts Center Conversations with Neighbors presents “Climate Change: The Activists Among Us” on Sunday, October 15 at 2:00pm. While admission is free, advance reservations are requested via www.spencertownacademy.org.

“Throughout the Hudson Valley, and right here in Spencertown, people are working hard to slow the advance of climate change,” says Lisa Bouchard Hoe, chair of the Conversations with Neighbors Committee. “At our next event, a panel of local luminaries will talk about their activities, answer questions, and show how we can all get involved.”

The panel begins with opening remarks by atmospheric scientist Dr. Anton Seimon, who is a National Geographic explorer and research scholar at Bard College Center for Environmental Policy; Paige Ruane, who is co-founder of Partners for Climate Action, a member of Austerlitz’s Climate Smart Communities Task Force, and leader of the Local Champions program; and filmmaker John Feldman whose latest project, “Regenerating Life,” is a feature-length documentary that takes an ecological approach to unraveling the climate crisis. They will be joined in conversation by Deborah Conrad, co-chair of the Town of Chatham Climate Smart Action Task Force; Troy Weldy, president of Columbia Land Conservancy; and Jere Wrightsman, a member of the Austerlitz Town Board and committee chair of the Local Champions program.

Spencertown Academy Arts Center Conversations with Neighbors is an occasional series designed to spark neighbor-to-neighbor conversations and celebrate the richness and diversity of the Columbia County community. Housed in a landmark 1847 Greek Revival former schoolhouse, the Academy is located at 790 State Route 203 in Spencertown, New York. For more information, please contact info@spencertownacademy.org.
