NOW, it’s Springtime in Hudson, New York

Posted on Fri,Mar 29, 2024Wed,Apr 10, 2024 by Rich Volo

Hello Hudson –

HOPPY HOPPY WEEKEND!

Bunny pins at Robin’s Nest:

Bunny pins at Robin’s Nest on N. 5th Street

This week, I added a couple of videos. Videographers reached out to me and sent me the videos from the BLACC Opening Reception at the Hudson Area Library and the Oakdale Plunge 2024. Thank you to Karl Frederick Mattson of 542films and Molinski Photography! Scroll down, you’ll see.

Personal sidenote: Penny Arcade had a great show in Catskill last weekend, she reminded me of my very first nightclub experience in New York City in 1989. I was nineteen and went to The World on Avenue B and 2nd Street. It was a Tuesday night, and a six foot plus drag queen, Dean Johnson, from his band, Dean Johnson and the Weenies hosted a weekly party called “Rock and Roll F@G Bar”. There was a hole in the dancefloor – a big hole – a couple of feet across. The hole went all the way through and you could see the room below. There was nothing to warn you that there was a hole; no cones, no tape, no rope. You could fall through and break your legs. As dangerous as that hole was, it was still more dangerous to walk through the East Village and Alphabet City to get to that bar. It was NOT a safe space, even though Liza Minnelli was on the dance floor (not an impersonator). In NYC nightlife, “safe spaces” are boring.

Good times! I guess.

See you around, Hudson!
