The Olana Partnership’s FREE November Third Thursday / Tercer Jueves Celebrates Indigenous Creativity at Olana State Historic Site

The Olana Partnership will hold its monthly FREE Third Thursdays on November 20 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Olana State Historic Site. Olana Third Thursdays are free monthly community days. Enjoy free tours, nature, art, and history while participating in engaging experiences for the whole family!

 Join The Olana Partnership from 2:00 to 5:00 PM to celebrate Indigenous Creativity Across the World! Stop by the Wagon House Education Center for a chance to celebrate Indigenous History Month and learn more about the history, culture, and craft of native peoples throughout the world. Explore art activities focused on indigenous creative practices like beadmaking and weaving with The Olana Partnership educators all afternoon.

 At 3:30pm, join bestselling author Carole Lindstrom at the Frederic Church Center for Art & Landscape for a live reading of her children’s book, “The Gift of the Great Buffalo”. This beautiful book tells the story of Rose, a young Métis-Ojibwe girl who has traveled far with her family for the biannual buffalo hunt made up of hundreds of other Métis families. Carole is Anishinaabe/Metis and an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Ojibwe and is honored to write books highlighting her people’s strength and resilience.

 All Third Thursday offerings are free and open to the public; check in at the Visitor Center the day of the event for details. Additionally, visitors are invited to enjoy guided landscape and historic house tours from 11:00 AM – 3:15 PM. A Spanish language tour will be available at 3:15 PM. Tickets are available on-site, day-of, on a first-come, first-served basis.
