Give the Gift of Hudson’s History for the Holidays

Looking for that special gift for that special someone? Look no further. The Hudson Area Library has a Shop with items based on images in its archival collection. Each sale benefits the library History Room, which acquires, preserves, and makes accessible the history of Hudson, Greenport, and Stockport. 

Framed and unframed copies of maps and posters from 1871 to the early 1900s are available. All copies are on archival paper or canvas and all framing is done to museum standards with conservation glass. 

Stocking stuffers include copies of vintage postcards of Warren Street sold in packs and notecards of line drawings of prominent buildings from 1871. 

Local artists created items based on the archival collection, which includes over 1,000 photographs and hundreds of postcards and other images. A line drawing of the Armory by Tony Kieraldo, local musician and artist, is on tea towels and tote bags. Alan Coon, local artist and co-owner of Spotty Dog Books & Ale, created a SPOUTy mug and sticker. He and Kelley Drahushuk, co-owner of Spotty, designed shirts and hoodies with SPOUTy and the riverscape view from Olana that are available in many sizes and colors on Bonfire.com. New this season are SPOUTy ornaments and coasters (you can never get enough SPOUTy!) by local ceramicist Jess Cropper-Alt. 

Everything, except the shirts and hoodies, is available at the library and can be ordered from the online shop on the History Room website (click here). In addition, some of the library’s wares are sold (all proceeds to the History Room) by generous merchants: Spotty Dog Books & Ale and Battle Brown, both on Warren Street, and Homecrafted Handmade Goods & Gifts, on Healy Blvd. Support your library, shop local, and give the gift of history.
