Mary Jane, Amy Herzog’s luminous and heart-rending portrait of motherhood and resilience, takes the stage at Bridge Street Theatre in Catskill, NY, from May 22 to June 1. This quietly extraordinary play tells the story of a single mother caring for her chronically ill child, supported by a makeshift network of women who become her lifeline. With humor, warmth, and unflinching honesty, Herzog’s script is brought vividly to life by a stellar all-female cast performing multiple roles. Directed by Zoya Kachadurian, with design by Carmen Borgia, John Sowle, and Michelle Rogers, Mary Jane is a powerful exploration of what it means to survive and stay hopeful in the face of overwhelming odds.
